Jason Bohn shoots record-breaking "58" using C-Groove
putter to capture Canadian Tour Bayer Championship
September 16, 2001
Using
his new C-Groove Face-Balanced Blade Model II putter for the
first time in a Tour event, Jason Bohn captured the Bayer
Championship by two strokes and broke the record for the best
round ever shot in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned competition.
Needing only 23 putts in the final round of the tournament,
Bohn shot a record-breaking "58" that led to victory
and a 24-under total that was the lowest score this season
in a Canadian Tour event.

"It
was wild - a crazy day," Bohn said. "Everything went
my way. I'd hit a bad shot and then chip it in. I made a ton of
putts. I played well but was able to cover a bad shot with a luck
shot. The best round I'd ever had before was 62." Bohn continued,
"When I made the turn I thought, 'I can shoot 59 today' and
I shot one better." In his first tournament using the C-Groove
Model II putter, Bohn went on to card ten birdies, two eagles
and almost made it to 57 with a long birdie putt at the 18th just
missing the hole.
The previous record low score of 59 was held by Al Geiberger in
the 1977 Memphis Classic, David Duval in the 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler
Classic, Annika Sörenstam in the March 2001 Standard Register
Ping, Chip Beck in the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational and Notah Begay
III and Doug Dunakey in 1998 Buy.com Tour events. Shigeki Maruyama
of Japan, shot a 58 in qualifying for last years U.S. Open
Championship at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland,
but qualifying competitions do not count for record purposes.

Bohn
had picked up the C-Groove putter at the August Eagle Creek
Classic in Ottawa, Ontario from Yes! Golf's Jerry Walters,
who has been working with Canadian Tour players during several
events this season. "This has been a big year for C-Groove
putters on the Canadian Tour," Walters said, "There
are currently over 20 professional golfers on the Canadian
Tour alone now playing with one of the C-Groove models."
Walters continued, "The 1st round leader of the Bayer
Championship, Steve Pleis, is also playing the C-Groove putter.
He picked it up earlier this season but didn't start playing
with it until his friend Paul Azinger recommended it."

Bohn,
a Georgia native and graduate of the University of Alabama, started
his career after winning a $1 million hole-in-one contest in Alabama.
"In all honesty, the 58 is more exciting. I earned this,"
Bohn said. "The hole-in-one was just pot luck. It was 135
yards. I hit a little, heel-cut, 9-iron. Two bounces and it went
in. I've had some good luck in my day."
Previously known as ProGear, Yes! Golf and its innovative line
of C-Groove Putters are setting a new industry standard and changing
the face of the game with the innovative technology built into
each model. C-Groove technology is the invention of Harold Swash,
Europes Putting Doctor who blends art, science
and technology and has been responsible for many advances in the
field of club design. Yes! Golf also sells a variety of putting
training aids developed by Harold Swash. Read

C-Groove Putters feature concentric grooves precision-machined
into the metal face to exacting specifications. The grooves create
an immediate and pure forward roll of the ball, and minimize the
'skidding' that can cause the golf ball to veer off-course. The
grooves minimize side turning resulting from an open or closed
putter face on contact, and eliminate the effects of moisture
(rain or dew). The "pure roll" of C-Groove putters has
been demonstrated at PGA shows and tournaments this season using
high-speed video. Read more about

The victories this season at the U.S. Open, the 2001 Scottish
Open and the recent Canadian Tour events bring the C-Groove Putter
to the forefront of golf technology, said Francis Ricci,
president of Yes! Golf. We are gaining a tremendous amount
of recognition in the golfing community. In fact, since last fall,
weve received orders from Vijay Singh, Darren Clarke, Miguel
Angel Jimenez, Gary Orr, Padraig Harrington, Dennis Paulson, Chris
Perry, Mathias Gronberg, Andrew Coltart, Mike Weir and Paul McGinley,
as well as from LPGA Tour Players Maggie Will, Alicia Dibos, Karen
Weiss and Luciana Bemvenuti.
Recently,
C-Groove Putters were evaluated by PGA Tour Partners, an organization
of 500,000+ golfers. The putters earned an unprecedented 100%
favorable review in the putter category with a buy rating and
the member-tested Seal of Approval as noted in the
March/April 2001 magazine. PGA Tour Partners regularly
sends new golf products and equipment to groups of members for
unbiased review and testing.
